Dr. Michal Heller zählt zu den herausragenden Forschern seiner Generation auf dem Gebiet der mathematischen Physik. Dabei sind vor allem seine Beiträge zur relativistischen Hydrodynamik im Rahmen der Malacena-Dualität und deren Anwendung auf stark gekoppelte Systeme in sehr unterschiedlichen Kontexten (z.B. Quark-Gluon-Plasma) hervorzuheben. In seinen Arbeiten legt M. Heller den Schwerpunkt weniger auf spezielle Modellbildungen als viel mehr auf das Studium allgemeiner Eigenschaften solcher Systeme. Seine jüngeren Beiträge stellen eine völlig neue und zukunftsweisende Verbindung zwischen informationstheoretischen Konzepten (wie z.B. der Verschränkungsentropie) und der Quantenfeldtheorie her.
